The main goal of the workshop is to encourage underrepresented minorities at various stages of their careers, including graduate students and postdocs with Ph.D.'s in mathematics or math related fields to become prepared to work in the academics, industry or the government labs. Senior professionals will provide insight on things they wish someone had told them before they left graduate school, some of the surprises they found upon entering the workplace, and how they managed to overcome the difficulties encountered. These talks are intended to provide an operational and constructive framework for direct interaction and discussion among workshop participants on importance of networking, interviewing, negotiation and leadership skills for career success. A number of job opportunities will also be discussed. In addition, poster sessions will showcase the work of selected attendees.
