Yang Wang was recently appointed head of the Department of Mathematics at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He previously served as chair of the Department of Mathematics at Michigan State University and program director of the Division of Mathematical Sciences at the NSF. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1990 under the supervision of David Mumford. His research focuses on wavelets and analysis, tiling, fractal geometry, digital signal processing, analog to digital conversion, and supply chain management.
