Richard Braun is a professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delware, where his research focuses on the theory of phase change and fluid dynamics with free boundaries and the dynamics of the tear film on the ocular surface. The mathematical aspects include nonlinear ordinary and partial differential equations, differential algebraic equations, asymptotic and perturbation methods, and scientific computing. Braun joined the IMA as associate director in July 2013.
As associate director, Braun oversees the day-to-day operation of the IMA, with an emphasis on the current year’s thematic program. He works with the workshop organizers to produce the schedules and with visitors to schedule other activities. He is responsible for the IMA newsletters, updates, email announcements, and annual reporting and also handles the many online registrations.
