During the last few years mathematics has had a major impact on research on AIDS. Perelson will discuss how mathematics has:

- led to insights into the events that occur within AIDS infected patients
- revealed that the virus is both replicating and being cleared at enormously rates
- revealed details about the cell populations that are infected by HIV
- raised the possibility of eradicating AIDS

Learn about the current state of AIDS research and where we stand in our fight agains this disease. The talk is aimed at a general audience. No mathematical background will be required, although some differential equations will be displayed.
