Resultants of Polynomials with Two Separated Variables

The intersection curve C of two surfaces parameterized by
polynomials
is defined by 3 equations:


F(s,t) = G(u,v)


and its geometry can be studied via its projection E on the
(s,u)-space.

The equation of E is obtained by elimination of the two
separated variables
t and v. This is done by the computation of a special
bi-variate resultant.

I will present this new resultant which was introduced in a
joint paper with
L. Buse and M. Elkadi and further studied in a joint work with
M. Elkadi.
