I'll discuss attributes of mathematics Ph.D.s that make them attractive to an employer in industry, as well as some obstacles that mathematics Ph.D.s face.

Bill Satzer received a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Minnesota under the supervision of Dick McGehee. He recently retired from 3M. Before 3M, he worked in a variety of engineering R&D positions at three other companies.
