Apply to Participate

Visitors can apply to participate in IMA programs and/or to visit the IMA for an extended period of time. In some cases, limited funding may be available.

Workshop Applications

Most IMA workshops are for scientists possessing a doctoral degree who are actively involved in the topic of the workshop. To request an invitation to an IMA workshop or other program, please complete the application form. Decisions about online applications are typically made one-three months before the workshop. The online application is available until approximately one week before the start of a workshop. If you require funding to participate, complete the funding request section. Funding is limited. If the workshop you wish to attend is not listed, funding for the program is exhausted. If the request form has been taken down, but you do not need financial support to attend, e-mail IMA staff.

Please note that this form is for participation in an IMA workshop or short program. To apply for a visit of one month or more, you will need to apply for a general membership.

General Memberships

Mathematicians and scientists employed elsewhere have the opportunity to spend a period of one month to one year in residence at the IMA, and to participate in the thematic program as a general member. The residency should fall in the period of September through June (in special cases extending into the summer months). Logistical support, such as office space, computer facilities, and secretarial support, will be provided; local expenses may also be provided. Preference will be given to supplementary support for persons with sabbatical leaves, fellowships, or other stipends. The research interests of general members must relate to the thematic program and a doctoral degree is normally expected. Applications may be submitted at any time until the end of the thematic program and will be considered as long as funds remain available.
